Hi everyone this is my first post in this thread and its a doozy :P

We are looking for somewhere for our 2012 camping holiday and we have tried using all of the reviews maps and guides but the choice when you are prepared to travel anywhere in the UK is overwhelming at at best.

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 4 and are looking for a campsite to book upto for a 10 day holiday either inside of the peak period or out of it as long as there is still entertainment.

We are looking to holiday anytime between 1 july 2012 to august 31st 2012.

The best example of what we are looking for is what flamingoland was like 15 years ago before the commercialization when they had the big club at the top, with different bars, places for the kids an entertainment hall, cafe's, bingo, BLACK LACE..:P and just a great friendly enviroment.

The things we are really wanting in list of importance!!

1. What I just said, really looking for that family holiday feel, hard to describe other than what I said....

2. Nice campsite with friendly campers..

3. Things to do during the day for adults and children, can be anything ranging from beach to walks to swimming to historic towns and theme parks..

4. Camp shop that can Re-freeze frreezer blocks

5. Clean and tidy facilities...

Thats our main feature list for a holiday and id appreciate anything you can throw our way.... hopefully it will be a great holiday :P

If youre from North East like me you know theres lovely campsites Northumberland and North Yorshire with similar facilities, but maybe youre looking further a field for main holiday.

If you decide to go for weekend, Vale of Pickering, although doesnt have entertainment but lovely site and great play area for kids. we went last week. Near Flamingoland too.

Peterlee north east enough for you :P and to be honest have always travelled further afield, did not know there was local places with great nighttime entertainment for adults and kids...

If you can go at the beginning of July, before the prices rise, take a look at Searles in Hunstanton in Norfolk, or Whitehill Country Park near Paignton in Devon. Carlyon Bay campsite is lovely, but maybe does not have enough entertainment for you. Also Trevornick near to Newquay has plenty going on.
The prices rise considerably after the third weekend in July and these campsites can become very expensive.

We went to Hele valley in ilfracoombe last year which was a stunningly quiet and secluded beautiful site with great ameniities but had nothing for the children on a night whatsoever and the nearest entertainment was ilfracoombe itself which was about 5 miles walk away...

The year before we went to Whitehill country park and we did love it, we got right on the very top of the hill at the back and it was a great pitch, also prices were reasonable and there was plenty for ourselves and the kids to do on the night, also a lot of things to do nearby...

So thats the type of thing we are after but a bit bigger maybe... :P

Searles is definitely worth looking at if you are after something bigger. Ours kids loved it. It is a very well run site and will be quieter in early July.

Hi we're down in newquay at the moment and have had a fab 2 weeks. The holiday park that we've stayed at as been really good but after reading the reviews about trevornick we decided to pop our heads in and have a look. We left after securing Our holiday for next august With a £60 deposit. You name it they've got it. Beach, amusements, golf, fishing, theme park, bingo, sports bar, shop and much more. Its quite expensive but for what's on offer I reckon its worth spending that little bit extra

Have a look at:

Trevornick, Newquay

Hendra, Newquay,

Ruda, Croyde

Mullion (park dean), Helston

Pentewan Sands, St Austell

Bear in mind these may not accommodate all your criteria.  Some may have a bar (and not bars!) and maybe one cafe or restaurant.  If you're after "bells & whistles" you might be better off at a Haven site and from reading the reviews on a lot of the static parks sometimes the camping facilities play second fiddle to the statics!

been looking at this trevornick and we watched and looked at everything before we decided to look at the prices as some of the comments made us expect it to be super expensive for peak season.... we got a shock its not.... we were considering woolacoombe which for 10 days would hit for neary £600 Trevornick was closer to £400 for a pitch with elec for 2 adults and 2 kids...

My better half suggested we try it out for the easter weekend and I politeedly pointed out that we live in durham and could she choose anywhere further away for a 2 day break....:P
