Hi all.i
Just wondering what is the right thing to do in a site launderette.
We needed to dry our babies bedding before putting her down for the night and when we got to the launderette someone had left all their washing in the dryer.
The machine only takes single 20 pence pieces for ten minutes so we waited.
40 minutes later and still no sign of anyone i lost my temper and took their stuff out which was still wet and put ours in until it was dry.
As soon as it was dry i returned their stuff to the dryer.
My better half felt as though we were wrong to touch their stuff, but needs must.
What is the norm here?
What would Jesus do?

Oh, it's absolutely standard practice to remove laundry from the washing machine or drier on campsite if the machine has stopped running. Otherwise you'd be there all day. I usually leave my bag on the top...once or twice people have even folded it up for me. But otherwise just pop it up on top of the machine or somewhere close by that's dry and clean, like an adjacent sink top.
We have similar problems - and solutions - in our home community laundry. On a campsite I ensure returning in time and if necessary I would empty a machine.

Launderette etiquette:
1, Always leave your bag or basket on top of the machine.
2, If a wash has finished - remove contents of the machine and place in the bag or basket on top.
3, If you leave your washing unattended expect the next person to remove it from the machine.
4, As for Jesus - I didn't have him down as a launderette assistant wasn't he a fisherman or a carpenter?

Now the real fun with laundry etiquette starts when the machines are in constant demand. You go in to use the machine and find the load in the machine is finished...great, but there's another basket of obviously dirty laundry "queuing" in front of the machine. What to do? Well, I usually put my basket down next and wander off for 15 minutes, go back and if the situation hasn't changed I put my own stuff in the machine. If the owner of the other basket comes in while I'm doing this fine, I'll step back. If not I'm usually frantic to get out of there before the owner does come in and catch me jumping ahead of them...which is ridiculous, because once again you could be there all day and the queue get longer and longer. Not all campsites indicate the time the machine will take after all and it's often a matter of guessing when it's you in next. I'm a polite person in general though so don't like doing this...on the other hand, how long would you wait for the next person in line to turn up?

If the current user isn't there to empty 'their' machine, well then you just simply empty their load from machine, place items on top of machine or in users bag, then the machine becomes empty for next user, ie YOU! simples. If an invisible queue has formed - tough t!!ty. Sorry, but life's too short to hang about for non-patronage

He took his earthly father's skill as a carpenter.
Same here last week I waited for a machine to stop so I could use it. There was a sign above stating how long the wash cycle took. I waited 10mins after it stopped then removed stuff from washer and put it in dryer leaving the door open so the owner could see where it was. I put mine on and went back for a coffee .As I returned after 25mins (the cycle takes 30mins) the owner had still not returned I was then panicking as i wanted to use the dryer. Luckily she returned as my washer stopped looked disgruntled at me touching her stuff but as it was bedding and towels took it to dry outside her static caravan. She was a seasonal caravan owner who would should know how long it takes. Some people just live in a ME world with no consideration for anyone but themselves!!

But he did "wash our sins away"
