Anyone been away over xmas? If so, recommendations please...would love to do it, away from everything. I know there are sites with all the festivities, the atmosphere must be cool!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We were away last year for christmas at Caywood Park, near York.
We had an amazing time, it actually snowed on christmas morning while walking the dog through the village.
The people on site were so welcoming , went in christmas eve for a few drinks, met up with some lovely people, even went in for a couple of glasses of wine on xmas day, Boxing day they had entertainment on with a live singer, atmosphere was great.
Cawood made lots of effort with the decorations and lights around the lake, was very festive.
Wish we were going back this year but will defenately book again for next christmas... totally recommend it
This is the same post that I put on another Christmas post.
Is it just for two of you?
I would probably say bearing in mind your location,
Morton in Marsh caravan club site, great site all hardstandings excellent......near to town plenty of pubs and places to eat.
Another Cotswold site is Broadway cc site, easy walk in to town good pubs and food.
As said Ferry Meadows, pubs/food nearby, bus into Peterborough from near site, also train from next door to site. Ferry Meadows is beautiful at this time of year especially when the water is iced over...lovely very scenic.
Then if you like the seaside at christmas theres good old Skeggy caravan club site, or
Seacroft cc site at Cromer, they have a pub/restraunt on site they have a meal and a do Christmas day and also New year you would have to book in quick though and tell them you want tickets for the do. If you only want to get on the site you may find it booked. You may think it would be cold at this time but we went there a couple of years ago and it was lovely walking along the beach on New Years day.
Another nice place is Castleton the club site Losehill is just outside but within walking distance.
If you have a dog all these sites have good dog walking on site or nearby.
