I have been lucky that this year we found a gem of a site. £5 a night (no ehu) great flat field with ok ish toilets but a huge ploay area in the middle for children. It is in Caerwys in Wales Barlows.
Has anyone else found a £5 (ish) hidden gem?

Sceptical Camper started a similar thread a little while ago basically asking people to use these small sites cos if we don't we could lose them. I've tried the but can't find the thread cos I can't remember exactly what the title was.
As times are hard we set ourselves a budget of no more than £10 a night for campsites this summer.
As we are C&CC members, we have used CS sites and have paid between £6 and £7.50 a night.
The sites have obviously been very basic (we took our own loo) but it was worth it for the total peace and quiet (not to mention having the field to ourselves in August!)
This is our preferred way of camping but I know it's not for everyone. The kids loved it and made friends with the campsite owners kids and having your own loo is actually quite convenient, even emptying it wasn't too bad
We also went swimming to get really clean, the solar shower was not to be this summer! IMG]forum_images/smiley36.gif[/IMG]
We use a lovely local site for last minute/unplanned trips which is only £8 per night with EHU included. It is never busy and so peaceful.

Been to the Buxton - Duke of Your and loved the area but the kids like a bit more of a play area. Thanks for your suggestions I just wish they were a little bit nearer x x
