Hi, I was thinking of a weekend at Fforest Fields in mid/late September. The site gets really good reviews and looks fantastic, a bit like the old campsites I used to stay on with my parents when I was a kid.

The only reservation I have is my 5 year old daughter who gets a bit dissapointed when there isn't a play area on site. What do people think of taking a 5 year old to a site like this?

Not a problem, the children enjoy the fresh air and space to run around

She certainly enjoys running around, and she loves making new freinds so as long as there are other kids on the site I think she will love it!

my 4 and a half year old daughter and i have just been for one night. she loved just walking around the site with me and looking at the other tents and caravans! We looked at the caterpillars on the plants as she was facinated by them! We played boules by the tent, football in the field and generally running around! She liked finding the little walkways and bridges within the site. there are the kayaks for the lake if you wanted to (life jackets from reception). Builth a ten minute ride away has a swimming pool and a park by the main car park if you did want to go.

Just take plenty of clothes wellies bucket and net for the ponds. My son loved exploring and it felt a safe site with everyone looking out for each others kids.A walk up the hill or around lakes is a must, with so much room to explore and run around the kids will soon be ready for a good nights sleep. Our son is 11 now and still asks to go back to the site even now!!

If you like water take a blow up dinghy with you - and wetsuit cos it gets a bit chilly - to play in the lake with - great fun :).

TV Reception on site is a bit "hit or miss" to be honest so take TV/DVD if your daughter needs a bit of TV type entertainment in the evening.

We went at the bank holiday and only saw my daughter when it was food time :)

You can rent "fire-pits" on site - great for toasting march-mallows on in the evening.

definitely go my children love the ponds, lake and space etc, you won't regret it

If she takes a fishing net and bucket she will make firends round the ponds, younger children seem to head for there. Bike or scooter also helps! My daughter used to make a little friend each year - now she is 12 this doesn't happen but we still have to go for our FF fix!

Yep - I agree with the others. Fishing net, bucket and wellies. She can toddle by the little ponds for hours.

We spent a week there a couple of weeks ago. I have two girls 7 and nearly 5 and they were more than happy climbing trees, playing in the ponds, cycling round the site and playing with friends they'd made. I would definitely recommend. We took them to the park in Builth Wells one day but they were just as happy on the site. They didn't want to come home!
