I am thinking of going there next year in maybe late April.
It needs to be in a town as I it will be my base for travelling further but I won't have the car with me.
I would prefer a slightly larger site rather than a small one, and prefer informal pitches (the ground tends to be better).
Must also be around £10 a night or less. Would prefer Cornwall but Devon is also ok. I would like it to be on the coast too.
As for noise levels I some where in-between will be nice, don't want a rowdy site which attracts youth campers but don't want to go to a 10pm you must be in your tent type place too. The place I have just been to in Wales had a "keep the noise down by 10pm" policy which suited me perfectly. There was still life beyond 10pm but people where just quieter.
Any ideas? I am keen to keep the costs down to around £150 including travel from Manchester and the camp costs, the rest will be spending money. I will buy things like pillows when I get there to keep luggage down.

Think for £10 or less on the Cornwall/Devon coast near Easter you may have to go for a CL or CS type site to get that sort of price. If you want cheap you usually have to head inland a bit.
Well cheap is the main aim, and it is more about sight seeing than camping per se, so a travelodge might end up being cheaper.
However I would have to be able to book in advance, due to weather I prefer to camping last minute, so if there is place I could book just a couple of days before I go I would happily pay more than £10 a night.
What does CL and CS mean?
Getting a bus there isn't an issue, providing it is near the camp site, getting sick of walking miles carrying heavy equipment.

The bus goes to St Buryan (infrequently) so you'd have to time it carefully and, as an added bonus, the trainline into Penzance is one of the most beautiful in the country.
St Buryan is within walking distance of beaches, the Cornish Coast Path and the Minack Theatre - oh, and, at a push, Lands End.
It might be worth using that as a starting point then working your way back up.
Trgarton Park, Nr Mevagissy is £6.50 a night in April and May. This includes awning and hook- up. The park is beautiful and all the facilities are first class. A regular bus service passes the main entrance every 30mins for the short 6 mile trip into St Austell. Try it, You will LOVE it.
