I was wondering if people wanted to recommend any campsites to me that they have camped on with electric hookup and good play areas that are very close to a beach? We'd also quite like access to a family shower. We've just returned from a good campsite in Cornwall but would've preferred not to have to get into the car or the bus every time we wanted to go to the beach. I'm hoping to get booked up now for next June. We live in the East Midlands so as far from the sea as you can get really but generally prefer the Southwest. Our kids will be 5 and 8 by then so a good playground essential! Many thanks in advance

You could try doing a search on this map. Double click the area you want to go to and it will give all sites in that area. You will be able to choose those close to a beach from that.

Tollgate Farm, Perranporth (nice family site, play area, can walk to the beach over sand dunes or walk to beach by road and catch the bus back up the hill!)

Gwithian Farm, Hayle  (again, a walk through dunes to beach)

Churchtown Farm, Hayle (same as above!)

Pentewan Sands, Nr Mevagissey (site right on the beach, but is a busy, lively site)

Magic Cove, Mawgan Porth (easy short walking distance to beach, site is small)

Trevornick, Newquay (a trek over sand dunes to beach, site is busy & lively)

Ruda, Croyde, Devon  (camping in the camping meadow next to the beach, lively busy main park, lots going on)

* all of the above may not fit all your criteria, but if you want to be in walking distance of a beach there's a compromise!!

We like Globe Vale, in Redruth,  but it is about 3 miles from the beach.  Lovely site though - water hook-up/drainage too.  I think it worked out at about £25 a night.  Children's play area is v. good, IMHO, but I can't say I've used this particular facility!!    Small bar with good and reasonably priced food, but no 'clubhouse' as such.  Paul & Louise are really friendly and helpful. We've has three weeks there this summer.  Photo 5 is a good photo of the electric & water hook up pitches.
