I've been going to Anglesey for the past 12 years. However, we've always stayed in a Cottage. As I've always been in a cottage we haven't discovered where the good camp sites are and wondered if anyone had any good recommendations for Anglesey?

Home Farm and Bagnol are both reasonable.

What are you looking for in a campsite?

I live on Anglesey!

What sort of thing are you looking for?

Whereabouts on Anglesey do you want to stay?

Tigermouse uses a site in Benllech, which she reccommends highly I think it is Sunset Sands Not sure.

If you want Holyhead/Trearddur Bay - I would recommend Llanfair Bach on Penrhos Beach Road, Holyhead 01407 764104 - a small C + CC site but you don't have to be members my mam and dad paid £11.50 per night for Van, electric and Awning.

Blackthorn Farm Near to South Stack and Trearddur Bay - you will find them all on the campsite search button with reviews.

There is some CC CL's - one off Cymyran Raod, Caergeiliog, which is walking distance of beach near RAF Valley.

Silver Bay at Rhoscolyn - I think that takes tents and Tourers - it has some statics.

There is one in Malltraeth not sure what it is called but not far from the Newborough Forest.

Church Bay and Llanfaethlu have a few little sites too

These are jsut a few - use the campsite search button and just tap in Anglesey and it will come up with loads.

Hope this helps!

Did someone call??

You're nearly right VK, it's Golden Sunset camping fields, part of Golden Sunset holidays, on here in campsite search.

As others have said, it depends what you want from a site - if you want club, shop, pool, kids playground and all the bells and whistles then this doesn't have them, and it certainly isn't five star, but if you want a basic, cheap and easy going site then this one's great. You don't need to book, you just turn up, but the site is so extensive you wouldn't have any trouble finding a space even when it's busy. No designated pitches, you just pitch where you want, so ideal if you have a large tent - ehu points are limited but if you pitch near one and use it then there is no extra charge. Current prices are caravans £23 per night for two adults and two children, including electric, and tents £7 per person per night including ehu if you use it.

The main part of the site slopes quite steeply but there are lots of level places too - two toilet and shower blocks with various portaloo-type toilets dotted around the site as well. Only a few minutes walk into the village where there's three supermarkets, petrol station, three take-aways, a couple of cafes, three pubs and a handful of gift shops, and about 10/15 minutes walk to a great beach, or you can drive down as there's promenade parking and a car park. Also many areas of the site have views overlooking the bay on one side or towards Moelfre on the other.

I've been going to that site since 1997 when it was far more basic than it is now and I love it. I've spent several weekends there since April this year, went one Saturday in July and pitched in a lovely little corner with ehu - left my tent erected there for four consecutive weeks, coming home on Monday afternoons for work and returning on Friday evenings after work. Ok, so it's not the poshest of sites and there are probably far better ones on Anglesey but it certainly suits me.

Sorry if I've rambled on a bit but it really is one of my favourite sites - hope all this helps anyway.

Something basic, cheap and easy going is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks very much for the advice - I always used to stay in Church Bay, but we always travelled around the island a lot so I don't think it matters too much where we stay as long as it's on the island!

There is also Bodewran Bach CS, if you want to be nearer the west side of Anglesey.

One called Ty Hen in Rhosniegr. It's a belter. Good clean facilities, own private lake, small heated pool and child friendly. Great view over Valley RAF and 10 mins walk from the fabulous beaches there.

We loved Bagnol in Trearrdur Bay, it was a few years since we went but its pretty much opposite the bay, decent facilities, close to spar shop and a walk along the coast gets you to a fantastic pub/restaurant.  We paid £15 for the 4 of us incl hook up but Im sure thats gone up a bit, only reason we haven't returned is the lack of a play area for the kids which is very high on their agenda!!!
