I have enjoyed touring for several years now but quite like the idea of finding a place I can leave my caravan ideally all year round either on a pitch or in storage on a site, so I can visit when I want without the hassle of towing. Somewhere in the Lakes, Derbyshire, Mid to North Wales or Yorkshire areas, with walking nearby would be ideal as it means I could go after work on a Friday and enjoy my weekends away without the mad rush I have now to get home, get the caravan then get away.

However, this is something new for me and I don't know anyone who uses a seasonal pitch or storage so can anyone offer me any advice on what to look out for, average prices etc.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Another thing to check is your caravan insurance to see if they allow this/ extra premium etc.  It may depend on if the van is kept in a secure compound and 'brought out' for your stay, or whether you have a pitch permanently set up.  It might also depend on what security there is on site and how often you visit etc.  I would check carefully with your insurance company, if I were you.

We offer caravan storage and seasonal pitches. Here are some brief details.

Caravan Storage - Brand new storage barn with CCTV, alarms and security doors. £1.25 per night. We will tow the caravan on to a pitch for you when using the park at no cost, you would simply pay the usual tariff. We do not tie you into a 6/12 month contract, so you only pay for the nights that the caravan is in our storage area.

Seasonal Pitch - All super pitches with personal bollard including 16amp electric hook up (on digital meter read once per year), water, tv aerial hook up, drainage, parking area, low level lighting and grassed area for relaxing. You can have your awning up all year if you choose to. Price includes winter storage throughout the close season. £1850.00.

Here is an example of some of our pitches - http://www.flickr.com/photos/jasminepark/4598298601/in/set-72157623837603431

For the quality of pitch we offer this is good value, a park near us charge approx £2100.00 for the same pitch, however watch out for added extras. We include winter storage however most places it is extra.

Obviously there are cheaper parks and pitch types with less facilities.

You need to choose your area first, the counties you have picked are about 1/4 of England, and then start looking at parks/ pitches/ prices etc.

I changed to a seasonal pitch at the beginning of the year.  £1550 from March to the end of October and including winter storage and electric.  The site is open all year so if I want to use my van in the winter I ust pay the normal nightly charge.  I can leave my awning up if I wish, although I won't do that after the end of this month.

I informed my insurers (Caravanguard) and the premium increased by less than £1 per month!  They just wanted to know if the site had gates and perimeter fences and CCTV (which it does, and the owner lives on the site).

We have really enoyed not towing this year, especially with the high cost of fuel!  We have used the van much more and love not having to do more than fill the water and connect the EHU.

Hi
we moved to a seasonal pitch this year at Lowther in the north lakes. It is £1550 from beginning of March until mid November - but they do have a waiting list.
You can leave the awning up all year and leave your van there in the close season. I advised the insurers of this and it was the same price as keeping it at home.

You will have to shout out louder thread hasn't been looked at for 5 years.
Try camp site search and look for seasonal pitches.
