Little Cotton Campsite, Dartmouth is about a mile from Dartmouth itself (which has a lot going on, pubs, restaurants, shops, boat trips, etc) the site is far enough away from Dartmouth to be quiet but the advantage is that it is situated right next door to the park and ride which will take you right into the town centre. (if you walk it's all downhill - ok going but not so good coming back!!)
Ayr Holiday Park, St Ives. 10 minute walk into town (uphill on the way back) but has good reviews - as mentioned not cheap though, but St Ives won't be cheap!
Tollgate Farm, Perranporth. Not sure if Perranporth your cup of tea, but fantastic beach and small assortment of bucket & spade shops, pubs/cafes. Easy walk into the resort but again a hill back to the site. Popular family site, book early for Summer.
