Does anyone who has been here have an opinion on access? We would like to stay here but as we have a 26ft caravan am rather put off by some of the comments.

Hi, I stayed here a couple of years ago. To put it politely it was rough and ready. The toilet/showevers were really basic and the pitches were made up with a real rough stone/gravel. It was what the owner described as a work in progress!! On the plus side the owner was friendly, helpful and it is close to Derry City/Donegal. The site is around a mile off a main road, the road in places can be a little narrow and there are a couple of hills to negotiate but not too bad. Leaving the site is a little trickier as you are going up a hill. Having a dodgy clutch made this a little challenging however as it's a quiet road I was able to keep going without having to stop/start on the hill. Would I stay here again? Well I wouldn't rush back for the site or it's facilities but it might be ok for a stop over. HTH

Thanks, we are not bothered about facilities, and the hill shouldn't be a problem. OH comes from Donegal and this seems to be the nearest site without having to pay the crazy prices charged on ROI sites.
We were booked on Elaghvale last year but fortunately we changed our minds at the last minute and went HERE.
This site is Heaven on Earth and by far the best site we have ever been on. Indeed we cancelled the rest of our bookings and stayed on the extra days at Hillfoot.
We have cousins in both NI and Donegal and when we return, we will be staying at Hillfoot and simply touring from there.
What part of Donegal are you going to?
There are a couple of good sites at a place called Benone.
Deighans and the Tourist complex, we have used both with no problem.
I went to Hillfoot recently and can vouch for how good the site is, lovely landscaping and a cute irish cottage for an amenity block. The owner keeps the site really tidy and it's totally hidden from the road, you'd hardly know it was there.
