Hoping to book Bank Holiday week in Arran.  Of the 3 sites - Seal Shore, Middletons and Lochranza does anyone have any recommendations?   All sound very different.  We don't like large noisey sites and much prefer views with friendly wardens & neighbours

Can only speak for Seal Shore but we found it (in 2004) to be a lovely quiet and informal site with nice sea views. Can't remember much about the owners as I don't think we had much to do with them so obviously they didn't do anything to upset us! Only thing I can say is that it is the slightly less dramatic end of the island for scenery and being right at the south end we didn't really explore much of the north in the few days we had there other than the drive up to Lochranza for the ferry. The hotel/bar next to the site only had bottled beer (no draught) when we were there and it seemed a bit silly to pay twice as much for exactly the same bottles as we had in the van so we only went in once for a drink.

Another recommendation for Seal shore. A lovely position right on the beach. It is right at the southern end of the island and so a bit of a drive to get anwywere else, but then the whole island can easily be car-toured in a day.

We stayed there in our 'van in late August 2004. We crossed to Lochranza afer spending several weeks on the Kintyre Peninsula and stopped on Arran for a few days before catching the ferry from Brodrick to Ardrossan.

We did look at the site at Lochranza when we arrived but decided that we preferred Seal Shore with its sea views.
There are lots of positive reviews here:

We loved Arran - Scotland in minature and said we would return but I'm afraid we've been tempted away by warmer climes!!! As I said previously the island is small enough to be toured in a day and good for biking too.

Have a good time
Tim

Thanks for all the replies.  Will defnitely have a look at Seal Shore. None of the sites accept bookings until Feb so at least I don't have to worry about booking on Day 1 as happens with CC website!
