We try not to pay more than £20 a night and that's for 2 adults, 2 dogs., awning and EHU.

However, we went to the Glastonbury carnival this year and paid £30 a night! I wouldn't normally pay this but the site was only about a 15 walk from the town and about an 8 min walk to the start of the procession route.

Prices are rising and we're now struggling to get what we once got for around £12-£14 a night. Personally, it's still way cheaper than hiring a static, holiday cottage or staying in a hotel

Prices at campsites is something that would put me off staying away from home more... If I cannot find a site for under £15 with electric... I MOVE ON! that is just my requirements... I know there is a site in the Forest of Dean that charge £38 a night with electric... Don't think that would ever happen... for me anyways!

£17 per night grass pitch only year before last first w/end in July at Gallanachmore, Oban. And I was solo. I wouldn't had stayed except I was there for an event and over half the price of a single room in a B&B!

Hi

as a rule we only ever camp on cl's & cs's and it would break my heart to pay any more than about 8 quid without or 10 quid with EHU. Have never stayed on either of the big clubs sites and probably never will. To expensive and to regimental for us.

Steve

We regularly go to a site in Devon that most would consider outrageously expensive, and have been going for 26 years. In high season, it costs £9.25 per adult, £3.50 per child and £1.50 per dog. That's £25 a night for the lot of us. There's no clubhouse, cafe or entertainment or even EHU. Why do we keep going?

Because it's my idea of heaven: my favourite pub a ten minute stroll; fine beaches an easy walk away; and the best views in the South West, bar none, from right outside the tent. When I pop my clogs, my ashes will be scattered on the cliffs nearby.

I suppose what I'm saying is that if a site ticks all your boxes, and then some, you'll pay what you have to.

Good value is a very individual thing. If it ticks your boxes & presses your buttons then good luck to you. I too would go the extra few quid when I find that Nirvana.

What's it called?? Need to check out these views. I thought the best in the west country were in Dorset!

I've just read the "price rise 2012" thread and it got me thinking about high priced camp sites.

In North Norfolk theres a site which, for two adults and a tent they are charging £40 a night,in August,EHU is there if you need it.

Whats the most expensive site you have ever stayed on,,just curious

Trevornick was more expensive than that back in 2005.

Shop around.

We paid £16.00 per night for a family tent with EHU.

As others have said, vote with your feet.

We should run a campaign to boycott these greedy money pinching sites.
There are enough of us on this site to make an impact.

A sites to avoid topic would open the eyes of the robber campsite owners.

I shop around - decided on the area, and then look at several sites witin the area then knock those that don't tick my boxes off the list.
Dogs allowed - it's his holiday too.
Shower5s and loos - we don't have our own in a tent.
Play area - means that that the kids have somewhere to go and play with other kdis, which gives me some peace.

I make a note of the extras, and tot it up, and go for the one that I think is the best value.

Earlier this year I wanted to take the kids to a site that we have been to a couple of times before, totted up their current taffiff and forgot it - htey wanted over £10 more for a non electric tent than for the folding camper with electric.    Yes I ould have swapped cars with Richard and taken the camper,  but I love the tent.

With regrd to the likes of Haven adn Park Resorts, you can get some good off peak bargains - you just hve to accept the fact that they are highlly commercialised.  We went off peak at the beginning of June, and it was worth, because Alioce lived in the pool.#
