Hi - looking ahead to next year, i'd like to head a bit further a field and quite fancy Devon/ Cornwall. ( family of 4, 2 girls aged 14 and 8).

I'm looking for some site recommendations and also one possibly 2 stop off points en route, maybe for 2 or 3 days a piece.

We've never used CLs, probably prefer bigger sides with more facilities, but not too big either.

Thanks for any advice

hiya,
we went from fife to devon last summer(road trip as we called it).we are family of 4 with 3&4yr old.
the site we stayed at in south devon was woodlands grove.lovely large site but all made into small sections so it never looked busy.no club or park on site but its free entry to woodlands grove theme park which you can walk in 5min through a direct path from the site.we loved our week there the facilities were spotless and so much to do in the area.
our first stop on way down was wyreside lakes close to preston, good site with bar/restuarant.from there we drove to bath(bit out the way but lots to see)cant remember the name of the site, but only a mile outside bath city.
it was a 4hr drive roughly from bath to devon(kids can only do 4hrs at a time or shoes ect start to fly to front of car)lol.
had great trip and would do it again.
ps on way back we stopped at the star campsite next to alton towers for a day at the park.recommend the site there as well.so many sites to choose from

hiya gkkad,
If i remember it certainly wasn't cheap, but we went a few days before the Scottish schools broke of so it was still not peak prices.£42 a night sounds a bit steep maybe do some comparing to other 5* parks?did you look at the theme park that is connected?if you were going to use it a lot it would maybe make it better value for money.
we only stayed in the Dartmouth/Torquey area and there was so much to do and see for kids(full wallet helps)

It would be a very long trip and an ideal stop off would be in Tewkesbury Caravan Club site, 5 minutes off the M5 and easy walking into the town. Plenty of places to go and get some food, I would recommend the Nottingham Arms on the high street there for a good value home cooked meal. Be aware though that the gates to the site lock between 10.30pm and 7.30am if you are looking at leaving early in the morning to continue your journey!

Thanks for the suggestion, possible a bit far as I reckon that would be about 7 hrs to there.

There's not a chance that we would ever be ready to leave before 7.30 in the morning, so no worries there
