We are planning a weekend away in March but can't decide where to go. We live in Chester so sites like Fairoaks are a bit close so a little outside Chester would be good and we fancy trying somewhere new. Normally we head to the Plassey which is our favourite site but as we plan to go at Easter we'd like to try somewhere else - we have two children ages 4&7 and would like a play area for them, a walk to a pub serving food would be nice but not essential.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We have a Pennine FC and are 2 adults and two small dogs.
We are planning a trip to Wales in June with a "2 centre" holiday. The first week near Llanelli and the second week near Chester. That way we should be able to see most of south then north Wales.
EHU is essential but kiddies play areas are not.
So any suggestions as to sites near Chester will be worth checking out.
Ah thanks we are going to avoid Delamere in March - we did consider it then we thought, great but very muddy walks versus no awning and nowhere to store muddy and wet gear x4 so thought we'd give it a swerve this time.
Lobey, Manorwood is nice, very peaceful, you can choose between the campsite or the CL next door. Lots of people like the adults only Netherwood its next to the canal, within walking distance of a couple of pubs and the pretty village of Christleton. Also the Hollies is really nice, behind my favourite farmshop just outside Kelsall. Then there is the new Lady Heyes just outside Frodsham, not been but know the area well.
Lobey, there is Astbury Villa at Saughall near Chester where we stayed not long ago, or Thornleigh Hall Farm, can recommend both, both are £12 I think and have facilities. Sorry, just remembered that Astbury doesn't accept dogs.

Wirral Country Park CC site right on the Dee estuary and alongside the Wirral Way. You can walk for miles from the site and it has a play ground for the kids. The adjoining caravan park has its own social club which CC members can use

we took youngest g/daughter summer before last & we would definitely recommend thornleigh park farm CL. great site. secluded, quiet, surrounded by big trees.
the children will love watching the horses practicing their show jumping.
there is a butchers on site.
there is a lovely walk or bike ride down the river dee to chester. concrete footpath all the way.
chester its self is a beautiful city.
chester zoo is just up the road.
great base for a day out in north wales. anglesey, snowdonia.
rhyl & prestatyn (seaside resorts )are just up the coast.
birkenhead not far away. you can get the ferry and spend a day in liverpool.
you will find loads to do in this area.
in fact i'm seriously thinking about fitting another week in at thornleigh park.
Thanks for all the answers and I'm sorry that I pinched the OPs topic.
Thornliegh Park Farm Site looks good for us as it is a small quiet site to the west of the city and therefore closer to the other areas that we would like to explore.
Lobey, do you have a site near Llanelli in mind? Llwynifan Farm at Llangennech is very nice, recommended to me by Scarletsfan. Can't remember if dogs are allowed though.

Well after all that Ive booked in at the Plassey again, they have special offer pitches until 29th March so I've taken advantage of that deal. To anyone wanting to go there at Easter I wouldn't leave it too long as there weren't many deluxe pitches left already so I imagine it will be the same for their other pitches too!
