We upgraded to a caravan last August, after camping for a couple of years and looking round to book the van onto sites this year, we've had a bit of a shock with the prices!

We like a play area for the kids, but other than that, thats it. A couple of times a year, we stay on a Haven type site, but on our weekend breaks we tend to walk a lot and spend time as a family.

I dont know if i'm looking in the wrong places, but all the sites i'm looking at are asking for £25+ per night... Since we dont go out on a night (we prefer to BBQ and mingle) i'm finding caravanning pretty costly...

We're even in both the Caravan Club & Camping and Caravan club, but I still can't see cheap sites...

Can anyone point me in the right direction??

Thanks

Hi sjp0907
being a member of both those club's won't help really as they all tend to be expensive. the independent's invariably are the cheap option, the previous post by us that site's price is for all , tents caravans, MH, etc
wish you well in your search
Derek

we tend to use CS/CL sites which are usually very cheap (think most we have paid is £13 a night).  We have seen some with parks but not many but they usually have the space where kids can run around and play.  This year we're doing mostly rallies and the group we go with put on loads of stuff for the kids to do during the day and in the evening so the kids are well entertained

This is a nice little site near Norwich - £10 per night with EHU plus £2 per adult and £1 per child.

CL = Caravan Club Certificated Location
CS = Caravan & Camping Club Certificated Site*

In both cases they are smaller sites that are restricted to five vans/motorhomes.   They are usually cheaper and may or may not have facilities.

As said above they may not have play areas but will usually have tons of space for kids to play.

*for completeness I'll add CS's can usually take as many tents as they have space for although it seems that newer CS's are being limited to a certain number of tents so this may be changing.
