Hi all

I'm struggling to find a site that we could use for short weekend breaks. Want to pick the children up from school on the Fri so needs to be within a 2hrs drive realistically, but far enough away to feel like we are having a weekend away iykwim!

Somewhere family orientated but also have a 4 year old - so suitbale for little ones as well. Where they can ride bikes and be with other kids would be ideal. If it had a pool that would be even better!

Any recommendations/ suggestions would be great!

2 hrs opens up a massive area from your start point.

The site that springs to mind and ticks your boxes is Bainland Park at Woodhall Spa, Lincs. It's not cheap but will fit in with your needs. Something a lot closer is Woodland Waters at Ancaster near Grantham. Wide open spaces, bar/restaurant and good fishing but no swminning pool

The Lincs east coast area, Derbyshire, Cheshire, Gloucestershire, Cotswolds and in between are all do-able from Loughborough.

Would Ferry Meadows CC in Peterborough suit?

Then there is Conkers C&CC site - next to Conkers outdoor centre. Kingsbury C&CC - next to Kingsbury Water Park. Both withing striking distance of Tamworth Snowdome/ Odean Cinema/ Stryker etc??

No pools though, but pool at the Tamworth Snowdome.

You could try Tattershall Lakes in Lincolnshire - nice kids play area, pool etc and the addition of water sports on site if required. Great place for families.

Plassey in Wrexham is probably top end of your 2hr journey time but worth considering.  Its very family orientated, has a pool and play area and plenty of space for children to ride bikes and scooters.  I believe they are currently building a bike track for the 2012 season too? As you can see from my signature we go quite a lot!!

Glad you've booked there we have been a few times and really enjoyed it! The pool is lovely and the price is brill when you think it includes admission to pool. Have fun!
