Anyone know of a seaview campsite near to whitby that takes dogs also a beach nearby? Dont want all singing and dancing as we do not have children but like to take long walks with the dogs and swim them in the sea.

Thanks

Could try High Straggleton Farm at Sandsend.

Great sea views and good walks along the Cleveland Way. Our dog loved it . Hope you manage to get sorted.

I too would recommend High Straggleton Farm.  It's a basic site with ehu and clean toilet shower facilities.  The family are extremely friendly and Derek is always on hand to provide assistance if you have problems.

We have been going there for 4 years now, it's an ideal location between Sandsend and Whitby. Follow the footpath sign which cuts through the farmers field across to the next campsite (Sandfield), which you are allowed to walk through.  There is a sign pointing to the beach, follow this and go across the road, down the rough track and you are right on the beach.  It's about 10 minutes stroll.  Go left to Sandsend or right to Whitby. I don't think there is any restrictions on dogs at Sandsend but there will be the closer you walk to Whitby although when restrictions are in place at Whitby, you can walk on the promenade with your dog.  There isn't much to do in Sandsend but it's a nice walk on the beach, there's a lovely pub with nice beer garden, tea rooms and then there's the Mulgrave estate; the woods are a nice walk and are open on certain days - there is a website about the estate but I can't do links, sorry.

Our border collie used to love it and we lost him 2 years ago at Easter.  We now have a little border terrier and can't wait to take him.  Denise

Sandsfield House Farm, we stopped a couple of years ago, separate dog walking field, all fenced off. Short walk across the road to the beach.

High Straggleton Farm did take dogs, our border collie always came with us and when we go again this year, our new border terrier Harry will be joining us.  I know Derek hires out statics so maybe the no dog rules apply to the hired caravans.

We stayed at Sandfield house too and thought it was in a lovely position for the beach and Whitby. Our dog loved it and the weather was great which made a differnce. Thought the vans were a bit regimented but thats what you seem to get on a seaside site.

High Straggleton Farm does allow dogs. We took our lurcher last year and there were quite a few dogs other dogs on site. There is also an area to the rear of the farm where the farmer allows dog walking. I'd give the farmer a call to check but I'd be surprised if dogs aren't allowed.
