Northam Farm in Brean is an excellent site with plenty of play areas for children, its near to the beach and all facilities in Brean including the fun park and a large leisure pool. If you like fishing there are two fishing lakes at northam farm which are well stocked.
Ruda, Croyde North Devon. Really lively site but next to a fabulous beach (you can walk) and has several beautiful North Devon beaches close by. Within easy reach of some local attractions/town by car and you have Exmoor too if you fancy countryside.
For someone who wants a decent beach I wouldn't recommend Brean/Weston/Burnham - the beach is more like glorified mud and in some parts has sinking sand.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

I think that is an injustice to Brean/Weston/Burnham area. There are miles of sandy beach. If the tide is out it is no good for swimming and mud is exposed but the sandy beaches are huge.
Personally not my favourite area but we should be fair.

Not mine either, which is why I said I personally wouldn't recommend it. The OP asked for Devon/Somerset & Dorset which is why I suggested North Devon for their beaches, which are nicer in my opinion. Nothing to do with being "unfair". just another choice for the OP to choose from.
Cofton in Devon near Dawlish warren is very good. You can walk or drive to the nearest beach which imo is lovely but there are several other beaches nearby as well. There's an outside pool, bar and entertainment. You're also near to Dartmoor and Exeter if you tire of beach.
