Hello all

We're looking for site recommendations not too far from Cheshire - Lakes, Peaks, Dales, Mid- NWales are all fine.

It must allow dogs, campfires and large tents (monty 6). We've got two young children (1 and 3) but we're not fussed about playgrounds. Also we don't need loads of facilities, just hot water and a shower and some space to play. Near a river would be fab.

As teachers we're restricted to bank holiday weekends and school hols so not expecting to find real isolation, but the quieter and closer to nature the better.

Hope someone can find us a special site!

Thanks all

Have a look in Campsite Search - yellow button at the top of the page. You can pick your area and refine your search from the list on the left for sites which have your requirements. No doubt someone will be along soon though with a personal suggestion or recommendation

Ah thanks very much, that works well. Quite surprised at how few accept both dogs and campfires but guess it will at least narrow the options for us.

Whats the difference between the red and green tents on the map?

Thanks again

Hi ,
We have visited Brylea in Preston, the site is very clean and the showers are good too, as are the toilets.
Nothing on the site for kids but out from the site turn left and down the road there is a river side walk. There are narrow boats on the river on some days.
Also Try High Gate Farm Poulton le flylde, owner very helpful not sure what is in the area for walks. The site is large and there was a few things for the kids to play on. Another one is Knights Stainforth in Settle, not been there for a while but it has a good playground and the site has a river at the edge of the site the kids can exploor the water with caution of course and the dogs will enjoy it too. They have an upstairs tv room .Hope you get fixed up .
