Has anyone been here?  I've been trying to find a decent, child-friendly campsite within striking distance of Oxford so that we can visit friends in July.  I like Hardwick Parks and Lincoln Farm Park, but the cost is a bit more than I'm comfortable with.  If we're going to be spending ~£350 just on petrol for this tour, I have to keep costs down elsewhere!

Hope someone can help, I really want to get all my stops booked asap.

Godwin's Ice Cream Farm? I am pretty sure they don't have a play area, but the ice cream is lovely, there is plenty of room for children to run around, easy access and reasonable rates.

Thanks Anne, I've had a look again at this.  I'd still be paying £18 a night - think it'd be worth spending the extra £5 a night for Hardwick.

We were going to buy a better tv before the Olympics started, but now I think it'll be a proper 3 week camping trip instead

I'd recommend Greenhill too - my van is on a seasonal pitch there.  Not sure if it might be more than the OP wants to pay though?

Greenhill looks good, thanks.  Don't know why I initially counted them out.

I don't know how old your children are but the younger ones seem to love the animals and there is a small play area and there is a games room with table football, table tennis and arcade games for the older ones.  Good fishing (free to campers) if any of you fish and huge pitches.  We are just beginning our second season there and love it.

Farmer Gow's is a small site situated behind the Activity Farm which can probably take around 20 tents/caravans or tourers. Both the camp site owner and the Activity Farm owner are fantastically friendly and helpful. There is a hand built toilet and shower block that are perfectly serviceable, although would be chilly out of season. There is no electricity to the site but you are encouraged to BBQ and use the communal fire pit. (You can take your own wood or buy it from the farm). No radio's etc allowed but acoustic music and singing are encouraged around the camp fire ion the evening!

The rates are very realistically priced at £5 per person regardless of what you intend to camp in and facilities and service are better than at other sites local to this which cost more.

The view is of the White Horse Hill at Uffington and the site is peaceful, set way back from the country lane.

This is a back to nature site with a children's attraction close by. (Discounts available for campers) There is bottle fed lamb feeding and chick handling daily, as well as tractor rides and play areas. There is a cafe, gift shop and small camping supplies shop and you can buy fresh eggs, meats etc and logs from the farm shop. There are two country pubs within walking distance that offer a varied lunch and dinner menu.

We, however didn't take our kids and enjoyed a peaceful weekend. A site that suits everyone. We intend to become regulars!
