Give Rick Steins restaurants a miss if you go there, fresh fish, cooked OK but well overpriced. Check out Choughs cornish pasties, shop is on the harbour.

Also get into Padstow early or you will struggle with parking spaces.

If you site search Wadebridge there are a few in the Rock area then you could walk and catch the ferry to Padstow no probs with parking then.

Dennis Cove Camping - this is a lovely clean but basic site with the major advantage that it's an easy 10 minute walk right into the center of town (as birdman says parking is a nightmare in Padstow - stay here and you don't need to worry about it). There is also another site right next door down by the estuary shore, but haven't stayed there and seem to think it only takes tents... I think it's called Dennis Farm.

I think all the other sites in/ around Padstow are a bit of a trek from the town.

In my opinion Rick Stein's fish and Chip shop is well worth a visit, you may have to queue and yes it is more expensive than some of the others in town, but the quality is top drawer - really lovely fish n chips, some of the best I've ever had (and that is saying something).

We love Padstow and go a lot, although never been to the May Day celebrations. Enjoy!

I'm sure you do know that Padstow May Day is on May 1st, Tuesday, this year and not on the bank holiday don't you? Would hate you to get there too late !! Well worth getting down a day or 2 before as the build up is part of it. Do remember though that it is Padstow's day and they can get a bit cross if you try to join in or get in the way !!!!

I hear a lot of people say this, but it has never been my experience.  Visited 3 times in High season and never failed to park.
