I can really recommend this one at St. Michael's near Garstang -

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=3364

It's a real gem, level ground, ehu, very peaceful, free range hens - you can buy their eggs - good dog walk along the nearby river bank, pub just a couple of minutes walk from the site entrance

Hi,

Don't know if it is within an hour but Hollins farm at Silverdale is fantastic, you stay on the farm and kids can feed the animals then you can use the Swimming pool at the next door Holgates Silverdale complex free of charge, it is just a walk through 2 fields of cows to get to it, there is also a clubhouse selling real ale and doing decent pub grub.

Silverdale is 45 minutes from here. I drove there last weekend.

We stayed on a nice CL in the Eden Valley back in October. I'm fairly sure that was about an hour's drive away and the walks both to and from the pub were pleasant.

We are going to Bayview, near Carnforth at Easter (Holgates Holiday Parks) which are part of group of sites at Silverdale and Hollins Farm we have EHU and camping we have young children looks ideal read reviews on here and check out their Facebook page loads of photos imagine not too far for you. One of reasons we picked it is there are pubs etc within walking distance.

Clitheroe C&CC... see other post doing the rounds at the mo.  Or Red Bank Farm on Morecambe Bay.  Going to try some of the suggestions already given as we're in Preston too and would like some local sites for quick trips away.

It is a very good site , although our little terrier is not keen on the chickens, or should I say over keen on the chickens, I don't think penny would be impressed if she had one.
