Am considering this site for a small group of us. One person has read the reviews and is concerned that they are a bit negative about the shower blocks. Has anyone been recently and got a bit more detail about the facilities here??

We go here often, there is nothing wrong with the shower blocks, they are clean and functional.  I believe when the council lease to the CC is sorted they will be refurbished.  Site is a bit isolated, eveything is a car ride away, shame the nearby pub has closed :o(.

Didn't realise the pub had closed!

There are two toilet blocks at Morn Hill. The one on the CC owned part of the site is up to normal CC standards but the one near the site reception was/is in need of refurbishment. Its good to hear that the local Council have sorted the lease out. We tend to use this site when visiting relatives in and around Southampton and it is very handy as it just off the M3.

Thanks.

I've just found the info that there seems to be only 1 tent pitch at Morn Hill. We need room for 1 van and 3 tents, maybe 4.

I am sure there is room for more than one tent at Morn Hill, its just the CC don't really promote tent pitches. The tents are just inside the site in the corner behind reception. Also the CC usually allow a pup tent with a caravan on the same pitch.

I live near there and the last time I went inside there were lots of grass pitches that are used by both tents and caravans. I can't comment on the toilet/shower facilities but the site has a good reputation.

The pub outside, The Percy Hobbs, is presently undergoing renovation but I don't know if it will be a pub again, or for other purposes. There are two very nice pubs a short distance away in the village of Easton. It is walkable but perhaps easier by car as the lane is narrow, windy and dark without verges for most part. There is another pub at Itchen Abbas a short drive away.

Alternatively, there is a good bus service into Winchester or Alresford.

We understood the pub was going to be a furniture store, such a shame as it was almost an integral part of the site.
