With great respect, "...not too commercialised, but with a pool..." is an impossible combination. In my experience, it almost certainly has to be commercilaised to sustain the running costs of a pool.
But to reasure you, I've yet to come come across a bad site on the IOW.
Consider, Heathfield Farm or Whitefield Forest. (No pool but excellent reviews.)or Appuidurcombe Park (with pool and excellent reviews0
We not been either and taking our first trip in August. After posting on here we have booked Whitefield forest. we were going to book appuldurcombe but thought it might be too commerciialised for us. Wight Ferries give discount to C & C club members but we used our Tesco vouchers.
We booked a package with the campsite it came to about £280 i think it was for the week that's campsite ferry and 3 adults the dog was free Oh and that's in July before school holidays start though.
The C&CC Adgestone site has a swimming pool and a paddling pool and is within walking distance of a village, but is not commercialised. It is also quite close to Sandown. They offer various ferry deals and family pitch deals. I can recommend it.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Ninham country holidays is good, lots more open space than the CC Club site at Adgestone and they have a pool, small games room and thats about it, you can walk into Sandown quite easily.
We also never been to IOW also taking our first trip in Aug, staying at Whitefield Forest. Looking forward to it, loads of good reviews. Hope the weather is good.

2013 Nothing as yet , trying to get new boyfriend to go camping soon. Selling Maritisa 700 , so we can put it towards a VW Camper.
It isn't (imo) commercialised and has the pool you require. It also has a small cafe serving food in the evenings. The people who run the cafe are lovely
We went to IOW for the first time in Sept 10 and it was a choice of Appuldurcombe or Whitefield Forest for us. We have since been back to Appuldurcombe (July 11) as although we were there for 2wks the first time we didn't see and do everything!
