We have a small inflatable boat with an engine and are after recomendations for a good site on a lake side.

Also there will have to be a park due to us having children.

We have stayed at a few in the Lakes but would like some fresh and new ideas.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi how about looking at Park Coppice at Coniston - we have stayed there a few times and have seen people with their boats on site.  Keswick Camping & Caravan Club site is another one.  I've never managed to get booked at Keswick during Bank Hols so don't know about any rules regarding boat launch.  I'm sure there are probably many other sites in the Lakes that you can launch a boat from.

I would recommend Keswick CCC site. We bought our kids an inflatable dinghy while we were there. Alot of people had canoes, sailing dinghies and some small boats with out board motors.
Also walking distance to supermarket and town centre.

Hi there,

we have a Honwave 3.8 IE with a 15hp engine and for me the best place is Waterside house farm at Pooley bridge on Ullswater. The campsite is good, stunning scenery and the site has it's own slip way, free of charge.

I was going to say I thought there was site on Ullswater at Pooley Bridge with direct access to the lake. Park Foot was the one I was thinking of though, pretty sure they have a private beach to lauch boats from. Not been there myself.

Also the National Trust Site at Low Wray has direct access onto Windermere, but I don't think you can take powered craft on there.

You don't say whether you are in a tent or caravan. I would recommend Hill of Oaks but it's for tin tents only.

Waterside house is next door so to speak to Park Foot, but Park Foot is a bit more rowdy and the launch area (doesn't actually have a slip) has no jetty unlike Waterside.

I too would recommend Keswick CCC site but it does get very booked up as it's very popular. You can read my review here (and 100+ other reviews)
here:

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?page=3&revid=2951

My review is number 16.

We've stayed there a number of times.

A super site for boating. We have a Zodiac inflatable with an outboard but we have not taken it to Keswick, yet.

I hope this helps.

Tim
