Never been to any of these myself - tend to go for the coast, usually anywhere between Tywyn and Porthmadog,

My mother in law lives in Tywyn and the campsites around the area are always well attended which I always feel is a good sign cause if they were empty, then they're no good.

If you go to tywyn be sure to visit the Honey Ice Cream Factory, I can recommend the ice cream from there eaten out the front with the mountains in one direction and the sea in the other

Oh...I'll 2nd,3rd & 4th that....wonderful ice cream.

We've camped for many years at http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=4847  not all singing and dancing, but very popular next to Talyllyn Railway. Might be a bit far from Mach for you.
