Hi

I'm doing the 3 Peaks in July and as a practice I am planning to climb Snowdon on 14th April.

Does anyone know a campsite within easy reach for tent camping? I'm not fussy about facilities etc as it's only 1 night but my sis in law has never camped so perhaps nothing too rough. Close proximity to a pub would also be a bonus!

Thanks

I camp around that area, there are a few campsites.  If you want one straight from base.   Llwyn Celyn Bach in Llanberis.  You have Llanberis path, straight from campsite, or different route and join the snowden ranger path.  Alternatively, catch the Sherpa bus to Pen y Pas, go up Pyg or Miners track, then down the Llanberis or ranger path back to base.  This site has basic facilities,  but has hot showers ect They have a website. an

Or

Ty'n yr Omnon in Waufawr.  This has a few more facilities on site for your sis in law, maybe more exceptable,  pub very close to hand, chippy and general store.  You can climb Snowdon from here,  fab views.

The campsite I use is down the road from here, on the right towards Beddgelert.

both have a website, so have a browse through.

Hope this gives you some ideas

you cannot beat Lyn Gwynant , we have stayed there lots of times in all weathers , you can walk to the youth hostel from the campsite( we have done with a 10 and 12 year old in tow), and if needed on the way back get the Sherpa bus. The site has good showers very laid back ( no phone signal ).

hope you have a great time.

I can second Llyn Gwynant - stayed there last year. Great site and Snowdon is really accessible.

Thanks for the replies. Just had a look at Llyn Gwynant but it looks like the Sherpa buses only pass once a day. Did anyone use these? Or how did you walk up? We were planning to go up the Pyg track

Thanks

There is a route direct up snowdon from Llyn gwnant but it's harder than the pyg

Stick to Llanberis if you want to walk direct from the site (you need to start near the youth hostel for pyg and miners)

But LG is a lovely site to stay on

Another shout for Llyn Gwynant here. Definitely in my top 5 campsites in the UK and probably in my top 3!

There's a path up Snowdon that is accessed direct from the campsite.
