Hi All,

I'm new to camping and have just bought a Outwell (Vacanza) Ottawa 600 tent from eBay. we went for a big tent as we have doubled up with family and friends over the last coule of seasons and wanted a tent we could use for not only the family but friends too... I'm now coming around to booking our first trip and am becoming slightly worried about pitch sizes, I have seen a couple of sites that will only take a 6m x 6m tent. the Ottawa 600 is a 7.1 x 7.7m tent. Can anyone advise on typical pitch sizes and whether I wil run into restrictions at most sites?

Thanks in advance

Really depends on the site. Pod tents do require a large space and some sites may charge you extra, that's why they are not as popular as they were a few years ago. They do still make them though, in fact I think I'm right in thinking Vango have started making the extremely popular Diablo again this year.

Like I said, it's all down to the site. Some you may have problems/extra charges, some you won't.

Welcome to the site, and good luck.

Andy

Hi,welcome to the forum!

Nice tent you have chosen! We used to have the outwell utah 6 (gorgeous tent),Look around and check out sites,we never had a problem with pitches, never had to pay extra for a "jumbo pitch",as racey says, some will charge extra, some won't,but larger tents are very popular and I think sites are realising this.

Good luck..and have a look on site reviews here, there are some beauties.

The camping and caravan club sites are quite strict on pitch sizes(or used to be)
