Hi,
I'm looking at heading over to the Isle of Wight this summer but am peplexed by the amount of sites to choose from. Can any members recommend a family-friendly tent site that isn't overly commercial (e.g. no static caravans, no 3am noise) which is close to a nice beach and a short cycle/drive to a village store. Am I asking too much?

We went last summer for the first time and rebook as soon as we got home for the same site for this summer, Appuldurcombe Gardens, Ive just been putting my review on here tonight. Its lovely, you will need to book quickly though as it may be full by now?

We have booked a meadow pitch again. They do have a walled garden with a few statics in, we never had any problem with noise after 11am. How old are your children?

Check out my review, I can highly recommend this site.

Let me know how you get on.

Ali x

Our son will be 2 by the time we take the holiday. He's been camping a couple of times before so we can still get away with 'quiet' sites as he takes most of his entertainment (balls, teddies etc) with him. I saw the Appledurcombe site and marked it as a possibility but was wondering whether there were any other sites in a similar style.
Thanks.

We are going to Whitefield Forest too in August. We looked at Appuldercombe but thought it may be too noisey for us but both have good reviews.

We have been going to Appuldurcombe for the last 8 or 9 years.

If it wasn`t good we wouldn`t keep going.Very family focussed and I can`t say Iv`e ever noticed it being noisy at night.

Shanklin or Sandown beach about a 10 minute drive away.

Very good Cafe on site if you can`t be bothered to cook and a small shop that sells the usual things you may need. ( papers & milk etc )

Pete.

Appuldurcombe gets my vote too! We picked it for our 1st visit to IOW and it must have been good as we returned the following year

The statics are in a separate traffic free area in a walled orchard.

The cafe is good and the people who run it (if they're still there) are lovely.

There's a village store (a spar I think from memory) and also a couple of pubs in the village.

We never had any issues with noise.

Good luck in finding a site to suit your needs
