We have been looking forward to our first trip of the year for so long and now the English weather has done a dirty on us.
We're supposed to be spending 3 night at beechcroft farm in Buxton from Friday. I've spoken to the lady there on the phone she says there is snow on the ground but it's melting fast.
Should we go?
What do you lovely people think?
You decide for me and then when the wife's naggin I can send her your way!!!!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

If it was just me + wife then I would go!
If kids are involved, I would think more carefully...
there is a four year old with us, we've got a heater and plenty of blankets, bags and a quilt. i think he'll be fine its my wife I'm more worried about.
She is cold in the best weather.
I've been to Beachcroft Farm. The farm / campsite is quite a way down a farm track to the site so it depends if the snow has been cleared off that. The main road I would imagine will be cleared now.
The tent field is large and open (with beautiful views), are you staying in the tent field or on one of the EHU pitches? If you are staying in the tent field and the the snow is melting off that now it might be ok. If you do decide to go make sure you take plenty of layers.
I'm in Sheffield and there is still a bit of snow on my garden - and it's freezing out there today. Buxton is a lot higher than we are.
Phone the campsite again in the morning to see if there has been a significant improvement, are you travelling far?

Hi yes we are staying in the tent field with EHU.
Got plenty of clothing packed and ready and loads of blankets etc for bedtime.
Im well up for it its just the mrs is stuttering.
Well Im in macclesfield so not far away. Its a beautiful sunny day today.
Snow didn't stick here yesterday but local news showed button with plenty. There is a web cam on top of the cat and fiddle road (main road from macclesfield) if you want a look. It was closed yesterday.
Not stayed at that site but its a beautiful area. Make sure you bring bikes for the monsal trail. You can ride into bakewell easily through the newly opened tunnels

We were supposed to be going to Packhorse Farm at Matlock, and we had a call at 9.30am this morning to say they have to cancel all Bookings as 10 inch of snow and all power cables down. We have got a full refund.
We were able to get booked into YCP at York with EHU last pitch so HAPPY

Personally i would go, it could turn out to be a fantastic weekend, but you wont know if you dont go, like your wife i dont particularly do cold, but i would go just to be away, I hope the snow does clear, were camping at the same place next weekend. Have a great time, and happy easter what ever your decide
Myself and a friend are off to 'Rynys Farm' in North Wales, near Betws y coed. Travelling from Bolton, for an attempt on Snowdon via The Miners Track.
We are as prepared for whatever the weather throws at us! We are in a little 3 man tent with tarp and EHU. Atleast with EHU we can put the little heater on at night when it's bedtime and not be too uncomfortable. If it's wet....we'll be in the nearest pub!!
I did consider cancelling (because of the wind/rain & snow) till I saw this morning's lovely sunshine and that cheered me up and made me positive again!
If you are more than prepared for our English 4 Seasons in one day Weather, then you cannot go wrong I say!
Good luck to all who take the plunge this Easter and have fun!!!!

We're in Ashbourne now, which isn't far from Buxton - we're sat outside the tent enjoying the sunshine - when the sun goes in it's a bit chilly, but when it's out it's lovely - we've been in t shirts! There's no breeze either, hope you manage to get away

Yaaaaay Wendy have a great time (apologies to op) and give my love to Snowdon, Ben next eh???
I'm off camping again this weekend (4th in a row :) ) but a longer trip this time. Hope to get at least some good weather.
Hullo Wendy! Good luck with Snowdon. I reckon the Miners up and the Pyg down is an ideal combination with a nice easy start to warm up and stretch your legs. But you need to get to Pen Y Pas really early or there won't be any parking spaces left. Enjoy your walk... and, as Smoky says, see you on Ben Nevis next!
Re the OP...
