Hi there, we live on the Essex/Suffolk border and i'm currently looking for some sites to short list for a quick weekend get away this season. Essex Suffolk Norfolk Kent area really, not too far from home but i would like somewhere cheap really! Been looking for weekend rates, from sort of now until before the summer hols and am struggling to find EHU for less than £20 for 2 adults 2 children and a 6 man tent. Am i being unreasonable? I read about bargains on here for £10/£15 night but they are never around the South or South East
Just asking for quiet, ehu, showers and loos really. Obviously a nice view (sea or countryside) and planty of space comes as added extras. Or perhaps a little swing or slide for the girls but not essential.
We have been to Carlton Park in Saxmundham and loved it so if anyone has been there, that's the type of place we enjoyed staying
Have you looked at Barleylands in Billericay? There is a farm/park there which you have to pay for. Some lovely shops too. They do electric hook up for about 12 quid a night but I would get the longest lead possible as there are always caravans there using it so if you're in a tent you could go further down the field?
We have been loads of times. There is a pond there where you can fish and we go cause you can have fire pits.
Plenty of space for the kids to run about and they lock the gates about 5.30 pm and give you codes to get in and out.
When We went the first time there was about 30 of us and we made so much noise but there was no one near us all weekend!
We love it there. Sitting round the fire pit with a glass of wine and I feel safe and feel my girls are safe as no one can just walk in.
Asda and other stores/restaurants are about a 5/10 min drive away.
Farmers market every month and boot sales every weekend.
Check their website for events.
Oh and there are sowers and loos and water taps. No sea views but south end isnt far away and you are surrounded by countryside!
Yes, it could be a gold mine if they added more facilities but it's our peace of heaven and we love it! X
Hi
We have booked to go to Carlton Park in July!! So fingers crossed we get on aswell as u did!!
I have also stayed at Barley lands many times... Personally if u want ehu im not you will get it as there only ever seem to be perminant units near the points!
the toilet and shower facilities are awful in my opinion!!
like a.miles says a gold mine if they improved facilities!! but there is loads to do and they allow open camp fires... for a weekend of back to nature it is fab!!
We are waiting for the new showers to be finished at Battlebridge to try there!!
Hi Lauren
For the life of me I can't remember the name but there is a site in Thorpe not far from Frinton. Not been there myself but always tempted. I'll find out the name in a bit and I'm sure there are reviews on here.
hi just had a week in kesslingham loved it caravan club site ease to drive to cross the road wonderful shingle beach enjoy Southwold alovely place can t say the same for Lowestoft
Aww thank you AliHo, spoke to my other half and apparently his dad has known the farmer that owns it for 40 odd years! So Grange Farm might well be in the running :) Reviews say it's basic but to honest, it looks small quiet and very peaceful so i am happy with that!
Gren is that Kesslingham or Kessingland?? Never heard of it so will check out the reviews on here. We've been to Lowestoft several times on days out as children and with our children - certainly an acquired taste, but if you've got little children who love the amusements etc then it does its job! xx
Well my friend has just booked Kessingland after i told her it was recommended to me! just waiting for a good bit of weather and we will be off to Grange Farm. It'll be £15 a night for us with electric hook up, thats a 6 man tent, 2 adults and 2 kiddies over a weekend in May (not the bank hol though, sometimes they're more expensive i think, although i didn't ask for prices at this site)
Hoping it's nice, might become a regular quick getaway, will be 30mins max from our house! lol xx
I'm going to keep popping back, and bumping this hoping for more inspiration - and will def let you know how we get on! x
