Hi. I am taking my girlfriend in our new caravan to the Forest of Dean Christchurch Caravan Park soon. Does anyone know of any nice places to eat out in the evenings close to the Christchurch park? We will be visiting Littledean Jail, Clearwell Caves. We hope to get some walking in too if the weather is good. My girlfriend doesn't know about it yet its a surprise and our first time in a caravan together. Any advice or places to see and visit will be appreciated. Thank you

When we went last year we did a walk which took us through the forest and up to Symonds Yat, where the views were stunning. We then walked back to the site via the river and there was a lovely pub there (sorry can't remember the name)

Puzzlewood is well worth a visit...you could quite happily lose yourself for an hour or two in there...it's used as a regular filming location for the series Merlin and also featured as the 'oxygen factory' of the space ship Byzantium in the Dr Who episode Flesh & Stone...

The Sculpture Trail at Beechenhurst is nice (food in the cafe was nice too ).

Can't really advise on many places to eat in the area as we usually tend to eat mainly at our 'van and hubby cooks

The Forest of Dean is a lovely area. Enjoy your new 'van.

That's Hopewell Colliery
Stockwood is now open, opposite Clearwell Caves
