Have spent about 4 hours reading reviews but am still undecided! We have a dog who needs a local walk, don't need electric hook up, like our facilities clean and preferably showers hot and free. Reasonable rates desirable. Hoping to take on Catbells with 11 year old son so proximity a plus. Any suggestions or favourites? Hollows Farm or Seatoller Farm look good. Like the sound of Scotgate but way too dear!

C & CC in keswick would be your best.

You can walk the dog in the park close by, and also takes you down to the lake.

You can also then catch the http://www.keswick-launch.co.uk/map_derwentwater.htm over to the hawes end and then walk up catbells.

There is also a bus that takes you to the bottom of Catbells just outside the C & CC site, near to Booths supermarket.

Great - thanks. I'm not a C and CC member though so could be costly!

I would recommend Keswick CCC as being ideal too. It could be worth your while to join. It's our favourite site and is ideal for Catbells. If you use the launch to get to Catbells you can buy discounted tickets the campsite reception if staying at Keswick CCC.

IMHO opinion the site offers the best of all worlds - right on the lake side with spectacular views but only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Keswick and 10 minutes walk to the Launch Jetty. The site has a dog walk along the edge ofthe lake.

You can read my review (No 16 - Tim & Cary) at:

I hope this helps.

Tim

I would also recommend Keswick C&CC site.

You can walk from the site and catch the launch to Hawes End to walk up Catbells.
