Our favourite site has decided to close its touring area to build holiday lodges - we are gutted.

So we are looking for suggestions for an alternative somewhere in Scotland (away from the midges)

Anyone who has been to Findhorm will know how lovely it is.  So looking for a friendly site next to a beach.  Short walk to the village - couple of nice cafe's to sit and relax. (would be great if a marina/harbour was within walking distance also).

Can anyone suggest anything.

Trish

Have you looked at Rosemarkie on the Black Isle, it a short walk to the pub/shop/restaurant of Rosemarkie, then about a mile to Fortrose, pubs/co op/restaurant, but much better than all of that is the lighthouse,  a 10 min walk down the stoney beach.  You can watch the dolphins, its called Charnory Point.  Rosemarkie site is a CC & C site, basic, but all that u need, split into two bits, with two toilet blocks.  The beach is directly across from the site across a small but sometimes busy road.  We had a ride to Findhorn and had Fish & Chips in the pub Very Nice.... hope that helps

Findhorn sits on one end of Burghead Bay.

At the other end is Burghead and it has a smashing wee Council Run Site.

We use it and a 5 minute walk across the sand, takes you right into the village.

There is always plenty going on in the village during the summer including Kipper BBQ's. Luverly!!!!!

I would reccommend the Burghead site to anyone.

Indeed we met a couple of our neighbours there the last time, so we are not the only ones that like that site.

PS. Visit the museum in Burghead. Very enlightening. Burghead was once the largest Pictish Settlement in Europe.

Findochty is a fantastic site right on the Moray. Pub/Resturant at the entrance and well handy for all amenities. I would recommend this site.
