Hi everyone. New to this website and forum. Hoping that someone out there maybe able to help? I am starting a new contract near reading for 12 months+ and I am looking at finding a campsite that will accommodate my touring caravan for a long term pitch. Does anyone know of maybe a farm or pub that would be willing to help? Any feedback much appreciated. Regards. Darren Young

Hi blongs. Thanks for info but this is to no avail as they are booked up. Just wondering if anyone knows of any pub or farm, thats OFF the beaten track and maybe not on this website, where they are happy to have a caravan piched quietly in the corner of a field for the long term? Any help much appreciated.
Very much doubt if you will find something like that as they may well be in breach of their planning permission if it was allowed. You may find a touring site with seasonal pitches that might help better.

Maybe try contacting these people http://www.users.waitrose.com/~crosslanes/contents_small/index.htm - it's a fruit farm/farm shop so might be able to do something or know another farm who might be able to help. Are you entirely self sufficient in your touring van or do you need electric hookup?
How close to Reading do you need to be?
http://www.heronsfarm.co.uk/ - at first glance doesn't look like they do camping but they do mention pitch prices on their website and they're not on here.
Would be interested to know if 'contracting from a caravan' is something you do regularly? I'm a project manager in IT and have been thinking about a lifestyle change. We were thinking of selling up (or renting out), getting a motorhome with small car and travelling round the country with me maybe doing the odd 3 month contract somewhere. Reckon if I can earn £350 a day and campsite cost us £25 a day that I could maybe only have to work 6 months of the year.
We stayed at a site last month, right next to a contractor, he was an ideal neighbour until 5.30am when he started his van to warm up.... if you do find a site please park your van well away from others if you have an early start!
Hi i am a contractor and will be working near corby. I am wondering if any of you nice people know of anywhere to put my touring caravan for a contract untill christmas. I can get referencess if needed by the site i am on now
Cheers for looking.
Hi Mick,
Welcome to the forum.
May I suggest that you pose your question as a new topic as this is such an old one and folk may not read all the way through and just start suggesting places near Reading which is not too helpful for you.
Sorry I can't help further, good luck
