O dear ,I am struggling to find anywhere for mon 4th to fri 8th,obviously I am picking areas near to us ( 1 1/2 hours journey) and reading reviews and the sites I am choosing are all booked up!! Do you think sometimes a petty negative might not mean its that bad? We went somewhere last year and it was fab,but someone has put a not so good review about it and yet I know different
Help please, any suggestions. We are in weston super mare,we like Lyme Regis, and woolacombe areas were a last resort because of the journey but open to suggetions

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Not sure if Wareham, Dorset is too far for you, however, Birchwood Tourist Park still has non-EHU pitches available a week ago.

------------- SUNNY DAYS,RAINY DAYS THEY ARE ALL CAMPING DAYS
I had exactly the same problem and couldn't get in anywhere, in the end I gave campsites a time slot of the Friday (when kids break up) to the Sunday before they go back to school and asked if they had any number of nights between then, I ended up with Tuesday to Saturday in the Dales which is great for us. I think alot of people may go home on the Tuesday for work on Wednesday as the bank holiday and jubilee is over then.
I had to book for the site I wanted in cornwall at the beginning of January!!! and then they were booked up until second week in August.
You could always keep checking if it's a particular site you want as they could get a cancellation.

Wareham forest in Dorset are showing availability. We went there last year and had a brilliant time, the staff were friendly, the brand new shower block is super posh with private family bathrooms and spotless facilities and you can pitch on grass or right in the woods if you prefer.
We have also used Camping Ninja before and have sometimes booked places that were showing fully booked via them.
Good Luck,

If you are not already, it might be worth considering the camping and caraving club membership to gain access to the CS sites. The CS sites (Certified Sites) are small sites operated usually by small landowners/families. You can find some real gems but facilities do very dramatically from site to site. They normally have a maximum of 5 caravans/tents so are quite small.
My best advice is to search to see if any CS sites are close to you, go and have a look and see whether it is your thing or not. Most site owners will be happy for you to look around if you explain that you are thinking of joining C&CC club- you may even be potential new customers for them!. Then have a look in the area you intend to visit to see what is available. If after all this you feel it could be for you then I would think about becoming a member.
The other benefit of CS sites is they can be quite cheap (£10-15 per night). So you should be able to recoup your membership back with a couple of outings.

Both the 2 main Clubs have activities happening on many of their sites over the extended BH weekend for the Jubiliee.
Personally I wouldn't let a couple of bad reviews put me off trying a site. However if there were lots all complaining about the same thing i would be a little more wary.
If you like Lyme Regis have you tried Seadown in Charmouth?
We've just joined the C&CC and booked a CS nr Lydney for the jubilee weekend. Unfortunately we can only do 3 nights due to work/time off but we're paying £15 a night inc EHU so it's worth considering becoming a member.
------------- 2024:
February: Broadstone Park, Coleford
March: Bucklegrove, Rodney Stoke
Easter: Llandrindod Wells, Powys
May: Carmarthenshire
July: Dorset Volksfest + Wilksworth
August: Gloucestershire Vintage & Country Extravaganza
August BH: TBC
September: Undecided
October: Bull Bay, Anglesey
We have booked to go on a C&CC rally meet at Stowford Farm Meadows that week, you pay a deposit of £25 but it is only £14.50 per night including electric. Just look in your May out & about book page 109, it is with the Devon DA for details. They may still have some places left.
We have been to Stowford twice before as it is a nice family orientated site.
