Hi

I really fancy southern cornwal but there are so many sites down there the search facility can be quite mind boggling!

We have 2 small boys so family friendly is a must. Good toilet facilities are also a must. Dish washing and ice pack freezing pretty essential too. Laundrette facilities would be good but I can make do without if necessary.

We have a LARGE tent so decent pitches essential. Ehu preferable.

A play park is desirable but not essential. Same goes for shop.

I like to feel like Im in the countryside - I like old style camping. Clubs and entertainment aren't for us. But very basic is probably a step too far!

Thinking st Ives / penzance area. Did bude a few years ago and not impressed. Same goes for Newquay - it rained for a week so didn't see it in the best light but want to o further south anyway.

Thanks in advance!

We looked round Carlyon Bay, near St Austell on our way home from a cottage holiday. We really liked it. Might be worth a look, although not as far south as you're asking for.

Our favourite site in the south is Trethem Mill - top site in unspoilt surroundings in the relatively quiet Roseland Peninsula.

Others that may suit are:

River Valley, London Apprentice (small, family owned, quiet indoor pool, and you can cycle directly from the site on the safe Pentewan Valley trail to Pentewan beach)

Tregarton Park, nr Mevagissey.  Rural, set in farmland, outdoor pool (but not at all holiday park type site)  short drive to beaches.

Seaview International, Gorran.  Again rural, close to Gorran Haven.

Look for somewhere around goran haven area lovely coves and beaches . Excellent for young children.
We went for a few years then when our boys got older we started going to Newquay side. Around watergate bay or trevella near crantock beach

We had a week in St Ives in July last year and if you are thinking of St Ives one thing to be aware of is that parking in town can be difficult.

We had been made aware of this before our trip but discovered that 3 local sites have a regular dedicated bus service from the sites into the town centre.

We chose Little Trevarrack ( cant remember the other 2 with the bus service ) and had a great time there.

We had pre-booked thinking it would be busy early July but it is a big site and there was loads of space.

I would not hesitate to return there.

Colin

We went to Tregarton last year also and loved it.  Great site and reviews are spot on.

Carlyon Bay campsite in St Austell - our joint favourite site to date, was just lovely. This year we're trying Trevella near Newquay, hope it doesn't disappoint after Carlyon!

Kenneggy Cove near Penzance is absolutely gorgeous, and the facilities are second to none.  Family friendly, lovely and quiet, a little park for the children, a laundry room, loads of free hot water - I just love it!!!

Can also recommend river valley. We went last year and are returning this year. Fantastic site. We have a large tent and had loads of room on our pitch. Kids loved the play area and the indoor pool is an added bonus. Very family friendly site.
