As the thread says is this a silly question, I am trying to book a site for the forthcoming weekend to try our new tent out, some are CS , when i ring or email they ask for my c&cc membership number (we are not members). My question is do you have to be a member to use the sites?

no - we have used them in the past without being members, just cheaper if you are

For Certificated Sites - the smaller ones - you do have to be members. It's one of the reasons people join the Club.

The larger C&CC ones are open to non-members - but you pay more.

CS's require you to be a member , as do the CL sites provided in association with the Caravan Club.

Whether the individual sites will ask you for your membership card is another matter, but yes you have to be a member of the C&CC to use a CS.

In many cases you can join on arrival at a Certificated Site, or Temporary Holiday Site or Club Site.
