I have just managed to get the bank hol weekend and half term off work and would love to head up to North Yorkshire to meet up with family, ideally around Whitby / Scarborough area. How do I find out about late availability? Have spent the whole evening phoning around and not find pitch yet! Maybe we are being too fussy by wanting EHU. Quite new to camping! Any help appreciated! Thanks.

Have you tried Spiers House near Pickering? Its one of the 'camping in the forest' sites.
We got booked there last august bank hols at short notice, however we didnt bother with ehu. We booked our half term trip months ago and the ehu was all taken so going without again, but tbh not too fussed as long as its not perishing!
You might find it difficult to get anything, as a lot of people booked quite early as a lot of site are doing events and stuff for kids etc. It maybe just a few more hours on the phone. Or you could try Haven or Park holidays.

2013 Nothing as yet , trying to get new boyfriend to go camping soon. Selling Maritisa 700 , so we can put it towards a VW Camper.
Hi! Try grouse hill. We booked last week for 7 days jubilee week with EHU. I think its around 8 miles from whitby, 4 miles from robin hoods bay and 11 miles from scaborough. We've never been before so don't know what its like, the reviews seem ok. Good luck

Have you tried High Straggleton Farm at Whitby. We have never had trouble getting a pitch. It's a working farm situated between Sandsend and Whitby, nice walks to both areas along the beach. Good luck.
I think you may struggle to get ehu now, we have been full for 2 months now. We can take you without ehu if you get stuck. This is the same for our sister park 'Jasmine Park' which is mid way between Scarborough and Pickering.

We are members of the Camping and Caravanning Club and have managed to find a temporary holiday site in North Yorkshire in the location we want to go to. I looked online but details are in the Club magazine also.
I think it's about £7 per night but without EHU, and there is no minimum nights stay required. I rang to book a place, but the steward said that it wasn't necessary to book.
There was a debate in another thread about whether or not you need to be members, but I think you could join on site anyway if you wanted to.
Hope this helps - if you want me to have a look to see if there's anything suitable just let me know.

hi i think it will be pretty booked or veryexpensive after coming back from a wkend away we wanted to book june 3 to 5, we tried most of norfolk, suffolk and essex and theyb were either fully booked or alot of money. 1 site said they got a pitch but its £50 per night and min of 4 nights. so thankfully we found 1 but that was the last pitch. hope you find something soon
Thanks all for your replies! I have only just joined this forum and it was my first post. Everyone seems so helpful and friendly! The good news is that we have got in at High Straggleton Farm! Derek, the owner, sounded so friendly. I am really looking forward to it and just hope the weather is kind. Again, thanks to all especially to Cockerspadgers for the suggestion.

You are most welcome Sarahhard. You will find lots of help on this website, it's an amazing source of information and most people are very friendly. As for High Straggleton Farm, you won't find anybody friendlier than Derek, he's such a nice person, always busy but always has time to stop and chat, and chat, and chat :)
The only thing I would suggests is that if the weather looks poor, then try to pitch in a sheltered position. The views are fantastic on nice days but it can get very windy and some areas are very exposed. Derek is great, he will let you pitch where you like, so long as there is reasonable distance between units. Hope you enjoy your stay.
