Agree about Blue Anchor, also good sea fishing from the sea wall if that's your sort of thing.
We also like Dunster Beach - reason being is you can park almost on the beach so safe to let dogs out the car (no road), plenty of seating (benches). You do have to pay for parking and during April - October dogs are restricted to the West area of the beach.
Kilve is another nice spot - no dog restrictions & great for rock pooling and fossil hunting. Kilve is a pretty village also. Just be aware of the cliffs when fossil hunting.
Warren Bay, Nr Watchet - not your typical sandy beach but pebbley with rock pools, reached via a footpath from Watchet harbour. Few little shops to explore also around Watchet itself.
With all of the above beaches, it's recommended to check the tide times before going - as with the tide in there will be little or no sand/beach!
