When stopping at motorway services there is usually a seperate area for caravans with bigger parking bays, simply follow the signs. The parking is free for a few hours. It is unusual to be more than an hour from services, so just stop when you need a break.
When we stop at services we usually avoid the food there as it is really expensive and also usually terrible. Use the loos there, but better to take own food and drinks and eat them in the van. Petrol is expensive too. you will find somewhere to walk your dog if you have one.
We went to Cornwall last year and loved it there. Yes, it is a long drive from Yorkshire , but worth it.
