Can anyone recommend somewhere nice to wild camp in the highlands?
We were thinking about glen etive but on reading about it I'm not so sure as people saying about the parking of cars at side of the road and the fact that it's getting polluted a bit.
We fancy somewhere next to water, where the car can be parked without causing problems for other drivers.
It's our first time wild camping btw, any help appreciated
Thanks

Hi, there's a glen, just outside Braemar that is used for wild camping. It has river running though it and room to park. There's also around the banks of Loch Earn. It's mainly used by fishermen. If you have any questions, just ask, cheers, Alex.

Hi, it's just south of Braemar, just as you are coming into Braemar on the left. If you're using Google Earth, you should see the burn/river running through the glen, into Braemar. You'll also probably see the golf course and a caravan site too. If you follow the road up from The Spittal of Glenshee towards Braemar, the area that I've seen camping in, runs about 2 to 3 miles before the golf course. It runs parallel with the road and is accessed from the single track on the opposite side of the river from the main road. Hope this helps, but just shout back if you need anything else, cheers, Alex.

Glen Orchy (my brother's picture):

He's also been wild camping on Rannoch Moor.

I've seen wild camping at the east end of Loch Tummel, south side of the water, where it narrows before becoming a river. There was a notice on a tree stating wild camping terms and conditions, and someone had a family sized tent down there.

I'd be interested to know where you go as it's my intention to go wild camping before I turn 50 - ie. soon!

If you can carry all your things then Glen Nevis is good. There's a big car park and people often park over night there and then walk along the path into the valley. It's a lovely place to camp surrounded by the hills and waterfalls.
