Looking for 2 weeks early July (might stay in the same place for 2 weeks or do a 2 centre) - here's what we're after:
- large pitch (tent is 5.1 x .4m) and we want to be able to park car next to pitch - EHU - Dog friendly (with dog walk on or walking distance from site) - Flat, spacious pitches (hubby snores) - Location - we're thinking about North Wales (Lleyn penisula) or Anglesea, or Dorset or West Sussex or Norfolk, Suffolk or Lincolnshire - Ideally somewhere you can choose your pitch on arrival (fed up of turning up on sites to have allocated pitch which has been overused and has no grass left) - Showers and toilets - don't need to be modern, just clean and functional, washing up facilities and laundry a bonus but not essential - Adult only or small/quiet - don't want people riding bikes round or playing ball games by our tent (dog goes mental when he can't join in) - Ideally somewhere where you don't need to pay everything up front in case we don't like it and want to move on (don't mind paying for a few nights)
Have tried the camp site search but so many to choose from personal recommendations would be good.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
If you can stretch to Somerset. Old Oaks, in my opinion is the best site in the country.
Rural, quiet, birdsong, dog walk, dog shower, rural walks, very friendly owners, you can pre order food boxes, freshly baked cakes & bread. Lovely little onsite shop selling local produce. They've always honoured specific pitches we have asked for in advance.
Thanks Chelsea Girl - Somerset a bit close for us for this trip (we live in Somerset an hour from Glastonbury plus have just come back from Lowtrow Cross) but camp site does look good so will bear it in mind for shorter weekend trips.
Try North Norfolk Sandy Gulls at Mundesley small site good clean toilets and showers, Adult only, dog friedly with dog walk on site and great veiws its on the coast and you normaly pick your own pitch but tents are at bottom of site with a shop just down the road within walking distance Ian.

Thanks Idmanian - can't see any mention on Sandy Gulls website about them taking tents but your comments and this website seem to indicate they do. Site looks nice so might get in touch.
Try The Willows, Abersoch, LLeyn Peninsula- fabulous site - very peaceful, stunning views, fantastic showers and loo's and lovely friendly owners.

------------- 2012
March - Woodovis, Devon
April - Trewethett, Tintagel
April - Santander - no caravan
May - The Willows, Abersoch
June - Killegruer, Mull of Kintyre
August - Gwithian Farm, Cornwall
September - TBC
October - TBC
Thanks Searchlighters - that's an area we are particularly interested in but I've looked at their website and they only offer electric for caravans and motorhomes - not tents unfortunately. Also they have a max 6.4m rule for tents so wouldn't have fit our monster. Other than that looked ideal!
