Is it just me or are there any other fans of Winter Camping...?
There is nothing better than having a whole campsite with very few people around, wrapping up in a hat and scarf finding a local pub to have a few drinks and some warming food, to then snuggle up in the van (or tent) and wake up to a lovely fresh quiet cold morning...
Perhaps... I am odd, perhaps I am one of many?
I just adore the peace, the romance of the cold weather, my wife and i have tented in Devon in November before when the winds were high and freezing cold weather, with our EHU and heater inside the tent or our van ad the cold crisp outside is just a magical experience... Roll on the winter!

You are not alone, as I too like to camp in the colder months.
No bugs, no kids, magic!
I had snow on my tent when I woke up one morning, then had breakfast in the cool winter sun with not a cloud in the sky!
Already booked my site for the New Year weekend down at my local C&CC site, handy for popping back to check up on the cat.

Yeah I have to admit I am a fan of the cold camp.. crisp air and many.. many clothes on. Although winter camping when it rains is way worse than summer rain

I would normally camp over either Christmas or the New Year, whichever that needs the least number of holidays to be taken out of my annual leave entitlement.
I normally have a couple of days off around late Jan and Feb for my birthday and Chinese New Year, and if they are close to each other, then I would go camping, like I did last year.

We usually go away just after Xmas for the New year and I love it when it's frosty and the ground is hard, you can wrap up and walk for miles.
I think the good thing about going away in the winter you know what your going to get, you know it's going to be cold so it's warm clothes, boot's, and lovely winter food.
as apposed to......
in the summer it's neither here nor there, you have to be prepared for everything.
I find the children that go camping with their parents/grandparents/etc. during the colder months being very well-behaved.

I love it too. I've only been away for Christmas once but have been for several years at New Year. We went to Oswestry C&CC site for a couple of years in -8 degrees and it was beautiful, everything was white with frost and I took the dog for long walks in the country park up the road.
Last New Year was just miserable and wet until the morning we left when we woke up to snow. It made a good New Year brilliant!
