Hi. We are virgin campers with a 3 year old in tow looking for a nice campsite with electric hook up, bar nearby and dog friendly. Doesn't have to be loch lomond but around that area and on the waters edge. Travelling from Edinburgh so would prefer thee south or south east side........been to Oban recently and it was a bit far with a small child and dog in tow.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We were at the Luss C&CC site on Sunday night.
Very nice site on edge of Loch Lomond - dogs ok - not sure about how far a bar is - but I just wanted to let you know that the midges were dreadful.
I know they are not just at that site, but just something for you to consider.
I was glad we were only there for 1 night before moving on (still midges here north of Fort William) but I would have hated for my grandchildren to have to contend with them, they were really really really getting on my nerves.
I had thought that I would have been able to put up with them but not so - serves me right for ignoring advice and still coming to Western Scotland in June - but the scenery is absolutely splendid.
Cashel campsite has pretty good reviews. It's right on the shore of Loch Lomond at the foot of Ben Lomond. We're booked in for 3nights in July. Very expensive though. A "select" pitch with EHU for the 3 nights has set us back £103 so it had better be good!
And yes, I've purchased my Avon, Skin so Soft!
hi susan mct,i noticed your going to port ban in july,we're also going in july on the 14th,we will be in a green montana6 down front near beach. its beautiful there,we've been going for 4 years now, maybe meet u there.x
Hi kittymieow, what a small world it is!
Yes, Port Ban is such a beautiful site. Not been there since 2007 so i'm hoping it's not changed too much. Still remember those sunsets!
Afraid we'll miss you as we're there the first week in July. Have a great time.
By the way, do you by any chance know if you get a mobile signal there?
aw that's a shame.... its lovely & the sunsets are amazing! u can get a signal if ur Vodafone & walk up to the shop.hope this helps...have a great time..xx
Now considering the Scottish borders due to the number of people who have put me off due to midges! Off to have a trial run with the tent in the garden:-)

Haa, it works every year!!!!
We put folks off from coming north, so that we can have lots of empty campsites to ourselves
