Just wondering which site you stayed at? I spend a lot of time camping on Anglesey, always at the same site, and while it does get very busy during the high season and some groups in certain parts can be a bit noisy there are some quiet parts and I've never known anyone driving their cars around after dark. Maybe it's the same site, maybe not.

I've never stayed here but this one is in a lovely location and has good reviews - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=3223

Also possibly this one - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=5182 again, I've never camped there but last year I visited another UKCS member who was staying there and it seemed to be a nice quiet little site.

This site is not on Anglsey, but if you want a small quiet site that is totally out of the way, read the revies for here. Just put this on as an alternative idea for you wombal1.

I thought that's the one you meant - it's Golden Sunset btw, not Sands - and that's where I stay. The site hasn't got new owners, it's always been owned by John Hewitt who also owns the big caravan site next door, he retired and his son Richard runs the place now. 'Uncle Albert' as you call him is also called John, he was only the warden and he still works there but he just empties the bins and deals with rubbish etc. The current permanent warden is a young woman called Denise, and the relief warden who lives in the village is a nice guy called Dave.

I've just recently had ten days there, the first four I was on the family field and I can honestly say it wasn't noisy at all; I think the worst of the noise, when there is any, comes from the groups who camp on the top field which overlooks the bay. When I went there last year I found that three more fields had been opened up on the far side of the site and even on the August bank holiday there was only one tent in each of two fields and no-one at all in the third one, so it is possible to find some quiet spots. For the second part of my break this time I moved round to my favourite spot, the smaller field just off the family field, and it was really quiet. As I said before, I've never known anyone driving cars round the site after dark unless it's someone who has come back from a day away from the site.

I think it's one of those sites that you either love or hate; I've been going there since I first started camping in 1997, and although it's only a couple of steps up from basic I wouldn't stay anywhere else on the island

It's at the far side of the family field. You follow the site road round the family field, this leads into another field and beyond that is a long narrow field sometimes used for rallies. Beyond that is yet another field, you go through there and to the right and there's a third field where you can see across to Moelfre. That's the one that no-one was in, there was just one woman on her own with a small tent pitched near the corner hedge. I think many campers using that site are regulars who return to their favourite spots, and any newcomers don't realise just how many fields there are so tend to camp in the main parts, meaning the ones further away are much quieter. I have to admit that I was surprised last year when I found those other fields, and when I mentioned it to the relief warden he said they had only recently been opened up.
