If I had no kids & no home ties, I would defo buy a camper & tour/travel/camp as much as possible.

Myself & wifey intend to buy a camper & take longish 3-6 week excursions when the kids finally leave home (long way of yet as youngest is only just 2years old)

Good luck whatever you decide

We started off with an old 2 berth touring caravan just to see if we liked it. Well we love the lifestyle and have just bought our 3rd caravan and are into our 7th year as caravanners.

I like the freedom a touring caravan brings and the fact that we don't have to pack things away when going out for the day (which you would have to do with a camper or motorhome). But there are lots of members on here that wouldn't be without their motorhomes!

I think if we were more outdoorsy and sporty we'd possibly have a camper although as a female I like my home comforts (and end washroom)!

I think you need to maybe start with a list of pro's and cons for each option to work out what's best for you.

Check out the individual forums on here - lots of advice. We also bought camping/caravanning magazines when we first started out but now mainly just rely on the invaluable free advice on UK Campsite

Good Luck

Go for it, been fulltiming since November 2006, first in a caravan and recently in the motorhome I built for us, have to say it's a lot easier if you can use an address to get post ,register with doctor, driving licence, insurance etc at the moment we use my parents address for anything like that. we have always used CL or CS sites (small sites taking only five units and some tents) there are literally thousands to choose from we are currently paying around £9 per night with EHU, there is also a toilet /shower room and free washing machine. as our living expenses are pretty low I only work enough hours to keep below the tax threshold, wife gets her pension. no council tax to pay, I'am damn sure we won't be heading back to bricks and mortar anytime soon, You are in a nice part of the country there must be some nice little sites nearby, in fact I might head up that way sometime this year to Horsforth, it's where my old grandads family came from,

Hi Terry why don`t you hire a camper van for a few weeks latter on in the year when rental costs are lower to see if you like it.
