Hi all!

Just wondered if anyone could recommend a cheap and cheerful site near or around Weymouth way? We are camping in a tent and we have three kids to keep happy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Donna x

West Fleet is lovely - I stayed there last year and the heated pool is a bonus. All the campsites are a little out of town - have a look at the reviews on here for more info. Are you a Haven type family? If so there are two - Littlesea and Seaview. Apparently Seaview is being taken over as police accommodation during the Olympics. I had to retreat from Littlesea last week due to the wind and rain but there is a bus into town from there and if you have a car you can explore the area. These are on the Chickerell/Wyke regis side - as is East Fleet. There are a few the other side such as Osmington - worth a look at the reviews on here.

osmington mills corner campsite, its £83 for a wk or £13 a night...open fields, with shower blocks toilets small shop selling bbq stuff and kids toys and garage across road selling all you need. its a very basic site, but theres a lovely pub 5 min walk away called the sunray - family garden lovely cheap food. also across the feilds theres the smugglers inn, about 25 min walk and right next to osmingtom beach. weymouth bay is a short drive away orif you take the bus its right outside the site :)

we go every yr for a cheap get away

Thank you both, I did look West Fleet and looks lovely but it worked out a bit expensive for us, not that it was overpriced just we are on a very tight budget.

I will check out Osmington Mills, sounds ideal.

Really appreciate help, thank you Donna x

Donna West fleet is great and if you have 3 kids then they will love the heated pool maybe worth the extra couple of quid, they do have a sister site sea barn which is slightly cheaper and has amazing views and great facilities and you can use the pool at west fleet
Also depends when you are looking on going as the Olympic sailing zis in Weymouth meaning demand will be very high

West Fleet would be great but a non electric is £32 a night and we really can't stretch that for a week this year.

Will defo look at for next year though.

Holiday on a budget is not easy but one or another I'm going to do it, lol.

Thanks for your help though x

I think the site Lauradee is referring to is Osmington Corner, not to be confused with Rosewall (which I think was formerly known as Osmington Mills, and which is a short distance further from Weymouth).

There is also Pebble Bank over Wyke Regis way. We camped there when our eldest was 18mths so  while back now but it was nice enough if not a little basic.

We now have a caravan and go to Seaview (in Preston) every year and really get on well with it but you have to time it right for decent prices.

Apparently the Sunray pub has the best food in the area but I have never managed to get there yet - it looks excellent for families though.

Good luck to anyone coming to Weymouth this summer. Traffic chaos abounds here as it and that's before the Olympic traffic descends when many of the roads are going to be closed for anything other than official Olympic traffic.
