Hi Campers

Wow what a stressful time it has been, I had set my hopes on Ruda holiday camp in North Devon, but all the electric pitches have gone. In fact it is very hard to find any around that part of the county in the first week of August.  We did look at Haven Holiday Park in Burnham-on-Sea Somerset, the booking online stated the pitch was a “Tent Overflow Grass”, not knowing what that meant I called them to ask. They told me it was a basic pitch without electric, however that I should go ahead and book it, then call to speak with the tent pitch allocator. She was very helpful and confirmed that she would allocate me an electric pitch. I have yet to have yet to have it in writing from them. Has any had any experience of this happing in Haven?

Now all that’s left is to go shopping for the complete camping set!!!!

Yep!, been caught out by Haven before, but quite a few years ago.

We arrived after having booked an EHU pitch for a Large tent, car and trailer.

We booked in OK at reception, nothing said, got directed up to the man in the hut allocating the pitches on a busy Saturday afternoon.

Man in hut said we wern't booked in/down for EHU, we dissagreed with him, (vaughly recall we had it printed out on paper as proof.) he wasn't too happy, but said we could squeeze in between some other tents.

So squeeze in we did, it was very cosy for the rest of the week.(Not.)

When booking an EHU pitch, I now, always ask, nearing the end of my  conversation with the Campsite Owner/Manager to 'CLARIFY'  we have definately got an EHU pitch.

Turned up at a small Certified CS last year, after driving for several hours and was told by the CS Owner that he was only expecting some Overseas Campers, not us, said he didn't remember our surname.

His Wife had taken my EHU booking and luckily I had mentioned something to her which he knew about so he couldn't deny we had booked.

Got our EHU pitch, though bit of a tight squeeze, couldn't put our awning up as it would have penned in the Caravan that was in the corner next to us. Mr. and Mrs. Caravanner were annoyed  how close we'd been allocated to them, they moved on next morning. Luckily we arrived before the Overseas Campers and got the better pitch, would not have been happy on the tiny plot they were allocated.

Hi

I did not book an EHU pitch for my tent, as there was none left. They told me to book a basic pitch and when I had the reference number I should call them and they would insure I would get an EHU pitch. I was also told that they would send me an email to confirm this. The following day (today) I called them to say that I had not received the email, again I was assured that the notes on the file ensured that I would get a EHU pitch and that the email would be sent again to confirm this. I have still not received this confirmation email. What further concerns me is that the confirmation letter they sent in an email stated that the holiday type was touring only. Again they confirmed that they knew my pitch is for a tent.

Should I trust them or insist on written confirmation?

Thanks

Get them to 'CLARIFY'  it in writing.

At another Campsite we pre booked EHU. Turned up and found it crowded, again said he'd try to fit us in, but would have to go and find a split lead, as the power points were full up. Where the 'Old Boy' wanted to put us was awful. I nipped into the Loo's and they were filthy.

The grass was long and the ground lumpy like a farmer's field, shame 'cos it was a scenic area and running alongside a river.

Whilst the Old Boy, who had taken over his brothers CS as he could no longer manage it, (we later found out.) dissapeared to get the splitter lead, we shot off quick, and up the road found ourselves a lovely CS pitch for a few pounds more a night.
